No longer baking cakes.......
A lot of people ask me if I can recommend someone who may be able to make a cake for them but unfortunately I can't, simply because I've never tasted anyone elses cakes so wouldn't be able to say for sure what they might taste like.
If anyone did want a cake, I would suggest logging onto the "We are from Hitchin" Facebook page and asking the question on there as I'm sure people would be only to happy to recommend someone who may have made a cake for them.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Kindest regards
Sue xx

Birthday, Celebration Cakes & Cupcakes
My photos are in a real mish mash order - I just post them as I do them. Have a little look through the pages and see what you think (wish I had a smiley face option here!) x

And this one was an 8 inch .....
Decorated themed cupcake board for an Arsenal fan
Valentines cupcakes 2016
For a little girl who loves ALL the princesses. x
Vegan chocolate cake - not so sure I would want to do one of these as a celebration cake as it was a little crumbly but for afternoon tea or for someone who cannot or chooses not to eat eggs and dairy, this isn't a bad option. Would work perfectly as cupcakes too.
Two tier baby shower cake. Lemon sponge with white choc butter icing and seedless raspberry preserves on the top and vanilla with vanilla butter cream and seedless raspberry on the bottom. x
More roses.......
I do love a cupcake board....

For a gorgeous 7 year old who loves puppies and kittens

Penny and Brenda are 70 year old twins who love stopping for a cheeky wine when shopping. They are off to New York to celebrate their birthdays (hence the Macy's bag at the back of the cake) along with Penny's daughter Jo, who is 50 and loves shoes and handbags :)
Not everyone wants all the bells and whistles - this is an 8 inch rich chocolate cake, with butter cream and maltesers and it stands at about 5 inches tall including the icing.
A Christening cake!
A cake for a trainee plumber!
And now for something completely different.....Darth Vader cupcakes!
A little late night baking because there is nothing at all to put in pack ups for the family! I do enjoy a scone :)
/Sticky toffee puds - my sister in laws favourite; she can eat three of these whilst she's here and still be happy to take home left overs lol.

Cake push ups - lots of lovely brightly coloured vanilla sponges, with vanilla butter cream. Perfect for a childrens celebration - just pop them in a bag or hand them over at the end of a party to avoid the sticky fingers all over your furniture x
1st Holy Communion cakes for some very good friends. x
Chocolate lovers I think for the cake above! Four layer vanilla cake filled with milk chocolate butter icing and drizzled with white and pink melted chocolate as per their request.

Cupcakes for Valentines Day - I love using my edible printer alongside my hand made decorations; I think it gives you endless possibilities.
Something a little different for me! Decorated cookies - having discovered yet a new baking obsession, I'm under the impression that if it can go on a cupcake, it can go on a cookie.
Fabulous for a childrens party! No mess and believe me, you can drop them and they still look perfect - I know this for a fact :) Different coloured vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream.
******
My new favourite thing to do - cupcakes boards. I think I could do these all day long and be happy.
Popular little beggars, these! These one's are choc sponge with a white choc buttercream.
Something a little different for me; a decorated cupcake board! Looked even better in 'real life'. Could be done for any occasion at all.
I think perhaps, that I love doing cupcakes above all else, especially when they are for such a lovely lady.
I absolutely loved making these colourful wedding cakes! I think Gerbera's are my new favourite thing. The cakes included 1 x 12 inch and 1 x 6 inch rich fruit cake, 2 x 8 inch madeira cakes and 1 x 10" square madeira cake, just in case. The theme of the wedding was 'Rainbow'.
I did a wedding for a lovely couple at the beginning of December but due to poor light etc., I didn't get a good picture. Andy and Joy were kind enough to send me the two pictures above. Lovely couple in a lovely venue.
**Sue, your cup cakes and fruit cake tasted as amazing as they looked. Your help bringing them to our venue, and loan of your stand, took a great deal of hassle away from both of us, and helped us be worry free. You took our ideas for colour and design and created the most beautiful cakes, which we were 1000% happy with! Our guests were talking about them the next day, which is always a great compliment. Thank you for being so lovely and having an amazing talent. Andy & Joy xx**
The teddy bear cake matched the party invites......
A good bit of lustre, some snowflakes and some ice shards :)
Not the best picture I have ever taken! It was a dark and gloomy morning and we've had so many lateley. Really need some winter sunshine to top up the vitamin D levels :) Anyhow, Peppa and George enjoying a muddy puddle!
Footie fans :) and one of them also likes tennis!
For the lovely Lisa :)
I loved doing this cake - It's such a happy theme :)
This nautical cake was based on the decorations and birthday stationary that the very lovely Lisa was having to celebrate her son's 1st birthday. When someone jumps up and down in your hall way and gives you more than one huge cuddle, you know they are happy. Love baking for this lady - she never fails to give my confidence a massive boost.
Farm themed cake with Bailey, Nanna's golden labrador.
Those 1D boys get everywhere!
Mulberry and sage were the colours for this wedding. The tiered cake consisted of a vanilla madeira with vanilla butter cream and seedless raspberry preserves on the bottom and a lemon drizzle, with lemon curd and lemon butter cream on the top. The cupcakes included half a dozen gluten free but all of them were the same flavour - lemon.
I've been asked for similar cakes to this before but I'm not very brave so if I think I can't do something, I say no as I would hate for people to be disappointed in something I did for them but......this lady is so lovely, I knew that if it wasn't OK, she would still enjoy a nice bit of sponge lol, so I said yes. x
Lego Cake and Ninjago Cupcakes :)
For the very lovely Lola
Garden party themed wedding - they had real turf on their tables
Best thing about a little bit of left over butter cream is finding a spare cupcake in the freezer and when eating it, finding out it's a lemon one :) x
I wanted something jolly and spring like for my sister in laws birthday and it's been such a beautiful day.....can't say I'm unhappy to see the back of the rain! (March 2014)
Oh Lordy, the smell of chocolate in my house! You may notice that there are dribbles of white chocolate all over the box, this is because I decorated them when I'd put them in position as otherwise, my thumbs get in the way when the cakes are so fully loaded. In this case, the cakes are for a very nice lady who I'm sure will be picking off the dried white choc to consume it after the cakes have all gone (big huge smiley face here).
I love this combination of colours....the invitations were navy, ivory and champagne gold. Rather than do a dark colour in the decorations, I chose a navy cupcake case and then did the toppers in the lighter colours.
The first time I saw Tye, he was about two and he's still as gorgeous as he was then! Tye doesn't like white icing or jam but he does love Tennis!
The names Bond.......
And for Bond's daughter.....
Lemon cupcakes with lemon butter icing
I don't normally do toppers on their own but these were for one of my daughters friends.

Silver and black 2 tiered cakes; Bottom is a 10" madeira and top is an 8" chocolate accompanied by 2 dozen cupcakes to match.
For a Scrabble fan :)
Getting the hang of these tiered cakes now :-) Can't take the credit for this one as it's heavily based on a picture that the customer supplied.....although the udders are all mine - well, not literally but you know what I mean :-) The bottom tier is a 12" Madeira sponge with vanilla butter cream and seedless raspberry preserves and the top tier is a 10" double chocolate sponge which rose beautifully in my Alan Silverwood tins that I've had for years and never used! They're coming out again for sure. xx
"Chocolate" she said, "My mum loves chocolate". That should do it!
" I must say this cake was amazing!!! Went down so well and everyone commented on how great it looked. They got even more excited when they tasted it
Huge thank you! Oh and it cut beautifully ... Xx"
These cakes above were made for a friend who wanted to entice people to her non cakey display, at a recent wedding fayre.
Cupcake Message board. I really like the idea of these and look forward to doing more of them. There's so much potential in a pretty board and pretty cupcakes! In addition, this lady had loads of home bakes and cakes for an afternoon tea party to celebrate her special birthday.
"THANK YOU SO MUCH for the wonderful cakes, cup cakes, scones and shortbread you made for my party (in the rain) on Sunday. What an array!
Your cakes were not only a sight for sore eyes but were a delight to the tummy and everyone enjoyed them thoroughly.........indeed absolutely fabulous and very little left over. Your really are very talented - well done.
The little cup cakes on the board with my name and age on went down a storm with the children and looked wonderful with the flower cake. As soon as I have some pictures I will send them on to you.
Once again, thank you so very much".

A Sonic Cake? Had a quick word with my daughter to ask her what she thought I should include and we decided on trees, hills, gold rings, the fella himself and clouds.
Not everyone likes fondant - this was for a very special boy on his birthday and his order was for chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate and it had to be Cadbury's. Very specific in his design requests too!

Lots of edible shells made for a really nice couple who were married on a beautiful island in the Dominican Republic. They had a reception at The Hermitage (Hitchin) when they got home to celebrate with family and friends. The bride wanted something that tied in with her beach themed wedding. The cupcakes were carrot with a cream cheese topping, double vanilla and double chocolate and in addition to the shells below, we also added a few Guylian chocolate ones.
This man was 60 and his interests involved Welsh rugby, Wales, Beer, Cigarettes and his guitar. My dad is a huge rugby fan and luckily I could remember a few names from the 70's to go on his cakes....Gareth Edwards is in there somewhere, scoring a try....
Golden Hearts; "Thank you so much for our wedding cupcakes and fruit cake. They were absolutely delicious and I am still trying to finish off the fruit cake! The cakes were beautiful in presentation and extremely tasty. Your friendly approach and communication leading up to the wedding was amazing and we were both very impressed. You are very well priced too and we were so glad that we chose you to provide our wedding cakes. We will definitely recommend you to everyone we know.
I can add ages to cupcakes if you like.....
"Just wanted to say that the cupcakes went down a treat at our party - everyone thought they were beautiful and my mum and dad loved them

A big, big thank you for the most wonderful cake you made for our party!!!!!! It was much admired by all, and very good value indeed! I will certainly recommend you to anyone and everyone, and will "like" you again on Facebook.
10" Madeira sandwich cake
This is a 9" round cake and you can get a good idea of how many it would serve by the amount of chocolate fingers (3 packs!) around the edge and the Maltesers on top. This is a very versatile cake and could be done in different flavours (raspberry and white chocolate, lemon, coffee etc), perhaps using white chocolate fingers or by using chocolate cigarillos around the outside and covering the top in luscious chocolates.

A golden wedding cake
Small cutting cake and loads of cupcakes for a London themed wedding. The bride and groom collected the cakes themselves, to set up at a venue the following day. Rather than put the cake topper into the cake and risk it falling out in transit, I packaged it separately so they could assemble it when they got on site. There were a mixture of carrot and philly, chocolate and white choc butter icing and vanilla and vanilla butter cream cupcakes along with a maderia sponge cake which was filled with vanilla butter icing and seedless raspberry preserves. I loaned them my 7 tier stand and I have my fingers crossed for a photo sometime later in the month :) One of the requests from the bride and groom was rather than have red, white and blue, the colours I should use would be burgundy, navy and a very pale gold.I've been asked for similar cakes to this before but I'm not very brave so if I think I can't do something, I say no as I would hate for people to be disappointed in something I did for them but......this lady is so lovely, I knew that if it wasn't OK, she would still enjoy a nice bit of sponge lol, so I said yes. x
